This knife sports a 4-1/4” guthook blade that is made out of an incredibly strong steel and finished with a rosewood handle. Aside from looking good, this knife also knows how to take care of business. I’ll spare you all the technical details of hardness and flexibility and let you look at those on your own. What matters is that this blade keeps an edge, is easy to sharpen and is also corrosion resistant. You’ll find that many hunters don’t prefer guthooks for a variety of reasons. Field dressing can absolutely be done with a regular blade, you just need your knife to be good and sharp and also have a steady hand. However, the addition of a guthook is a nice tool to have. The ability to make all your cuts with the regular blade and then flip your knife over and essentially “unzip” your animal without the worry of puncturing the guts is a great option. We used this particular knife on several deer last season with no issues, it exceeded our expectations. This Alpha Fixed knife is just one of the Alaskan Guide Series knives made by Buck Knives. They are well worth the investment and have earned a spot in our gear bag for seasons to come! Listen to Buy or Bust for more info.
