If the Ford F-150 Raptor and the F-150 Limited had a baby, this would be it! For 2019, Travis Calhoun says that engineers took the engine from the Raptor, a high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and put it in the F-150 Limited giving it some serious grit with 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft of torque. Born from that combination was the new 2019 F-150 Limited that now has more power than any light-duty pickup on the road. You get the butt kicking capability of the Raptor with the polish and amenities of the Limited. What’s not to love about that?
So, what about those amenities? Well, there was a time when power windows and locks had drivers feeling like they were on top of the world, but technology in vehicles has come a long way and it takes more than that to impress us now. I’m not talking about the ridiculous attempts to put a hot tub or smoothie machine in your vehicle, I’m referring to actual meaningful and helpful technology that can make us better, more aware, more effective and safer drivers. This kind of intuitive technology is on display in the 2019 F-150 Limited.
An integrated trailer brake controller comes standard and the F-150 Limited is equipped with the class exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Backing up a trailer, for instance a boat trailer, can be tricky for some. If you don’t believe me, get online and check out the videos of people trying to back down the boat ramp to launch. Travis highlights the role this Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature plays with a quick explanation of how it works. He tells us that a knob next to the right knee of the driver is used for maneuvering, allowing the driver to rotate the knob to control its direction, with the truck automatically steering to follow the course selected. Active park assist comes standard, too. This feature helps you find an appropriate parking spot, one that is large enough, and then aids in parallel parking. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go technology is another great standard technology feature on the new 2019 F-150 Limited. Travis says that drivers are able to set their speed like traditional cruise control, however this system also monitors traffic ahead and helps you keep a safe following distance. How many times have you been cruising down the interstate only to have someone cut right in front of you and slow down? This feature senses when this happens, automatically brakes for you and maintains a safe distance between you and the car in front, only to accelerate again back to your preset speed once the vehicle ahead is no longer an issue. He’ll talk about how this feature also works well when traveling in areas of heavy traffic. The 2019 F-150 Limited is also equipped with a standard 360-degree camera system for a bird’s eye view around your vehicle, allowing you to see any obstacles around your vehicle and clear them before driving. Since we don’t go anywhere without our phones and devices anymore, the ability to integrate them into our vehicles is important. The F-150 Limited comes with a FordPass™ Connect 4G LTE modem which delivers Wi-Fi access for up to 10 devices. In addition, it has SYNC® 3 with AppLink™, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, plus a standard B&O PLAY™ audio system by HARMAN. Regardless of the brand of phone you use, or how many occupants you have riding with you, this system is capable of handling everything!
We know it’s tough and well equipped with all the technological features we could think of, but what about the interior? Travis tells us that the cabin sports a new interior theme and has the best in materials and craftsmanship that still lives up to the Built Ford Tough standard. Travis will talk about the new high-quality leather seats, real wood trim and all together upgraded interior features, power deployable running boards and even a laser-etched plaque on the center console armrest with the vehicle’s serial number.
The 2019 F-150 Limited really rides the fence, with great balance, between a work capable truck and one that delivers a plush experience, as well. You don’t have to choose, you can have both. Travis says that retaining the overall utility of the truck is crucial and that it always needs to live up to the Built Ford Tough promise and in this case, it really is tougher, smarter and more capable than any prior generation.
People are as different as the trucks they need to suit their lifestyles. This 2019 F-150 Limited is a working machine with tons of power that also delivers high-end features and finishes.
