Greg tells Jim and Trav that they are competing with a 1978 F-150 Ranger that he found in a farmer’s field in Idaho that they have also retrofitted with a DECKED unit they cut and rigged to fit. I don’t know about all of you, but this sounds like a fun event! You can see the DECKED entry which social media users helped them name, “Betty Ford” by hitting up Facebook and Instagram for some photos and videos and tune in there for updates throughout the event.
If you haven’t heard Greg Randolph on the show before, then make sure to check out our archives and take a listen. For those of you who aren’t familiar, DECKED is a crazy cool truck and van storage system. This isn’t a flimsy insert or heavy wood box, DECKED is highly engineered and made from HDPE that is co-molded to a steel subframe. The system creates a platform in the back of your truck or van that allows you to load up to 2,000 pounds on top, all the while providing two full length drawers beneath to hold anything and everything you can possibly stuff inside. We have DECKED systems installed in our personal vehicles, so I can vouch for how well made and how functional they really are. I have spent quite a bit of time talking to y’all about using DECKED in my outdoor adventures – hunting, fishing, camping, grilling, etc. However, the versatility is endless whether you are a farmer or rancher, contractor, banker or stay at home mom. The ability to declutter your vehicle, add a little organization to your mobile command center and store everything you need, securely, is awesome. Check out the DECKED social media pages to see how other people are using their DECKED systems, it’s pretty incredible.
Another highpoint of the DECKED system is that it’s made in the U.S.A. Last time Greg was here he teased a video they were filming and producing to showcase their American roots. Greg tells Jim and Trav that because of the sophistication of the DECKED system, it takes molding techniques, manufacturing, precision creation of parts and pieces and smart people to put it all together – and they’re proud to be able to do it right here in America. Watch the “How it’s made” video here and be sure to tune in for a fun discussion with Greg Randolph of DECKED.
Thanks for listening. - Trav
